January 2017 saw Ubisoft opening their third UK development studio through the acquisition of Freestyle Games, famous for console titles such as Guitar Hero Live and DJ Hero.
Why Leamington Spa?
Prior to settling in Leamington Spa, Ubisoft considered a number of games development hubs such as Cambridge and Guilford but settled on Leamington Spa as their final choice. Their decision was swayed by the availability of local talent and the extensive local support provided by local partners.
Warwickshire County Council, Warwick District Council and CWLEP have continued to support Ubisoft’s growth plans in the town and they have since doubled their workforce in the short period of time they have been based in the area.
