Jaguar Land Rover - Invest Coventry & Warwickshire

Jaguar Land Rover

Key partnership on infrastructure and skills

Jaguar Land Rover can trace its roots here back to the Starley ‘Rover’ Cycle of 1868, and the Swallow Sidecars of 1916, both created and developed in Coventry. Today the company is better known for its Car of the Year 2018, the all-electric Jaguar iPace and Land Rover and Range Rover SUVs.

The company has expanded extensively here since 2009, and from three sites has grown to occupy 11 sites, including manufacture and vehicle design and engineering. Recent highlights are the £600m Product Creation Centre at Gaydon and the Battery Assembly Centre at Hams Hall.

How we helped

Coventry & Warwickshire LEP area partners have worked closely with JLR to make sure the region has the right infrastructure and skills. In 2018 the new M40 J12 expansion was completed with support from RGF, improving access for JLR, Aston Martin Lagonda, British Motor Museum and the village of Gaydon. The 1,672m2 extension to the Engineering Centre at Trident College, was a collaboration with CWLEP (Local Growth Fund) and WCG Warwickshire College Group, and will help deliver the future skills needed by the company and the future mobility supply chain going forwards.
